Just 125 km northeast of Hobart on Tasmania’s east coast, Freycinet national park that takes up the majority of the amazingly beautiful Freycinet Peninsula. As Tasmania’s oldest National Park (along with Mount Field), Freycinet is full of unspoiled wilderness in the form of old-growth she-oak and banksia forests, sweeping heaths, fields of wildflowers, marine reserves and stunning beaches, all bursting with native wildlife.

One of the most impressive features of Freycinet National Park is the Hazard Range – a series of pink-coloured granite peaks that turn the views from beautiful into spectacular. Wineglass Bay is equally impressive, with its horseshoe shape offering shelter and a perceived privacy from the rest of the busy world. In fact, Wineglass Bay has been voted several times as one of the world’s best beaches! These highly photographed locations are best viewed from Wineglass Bay lookout, which in itself offers a great hiking opportunity. Speaking of hiking, the National Park offers a plethora of opportunities for bushwalking, ranging from tough, challenging hikes to gentle strolls through the natural surroundings, leading to sweeping pristine beaches, sheltered bays and lagoons full of birds.

Nearby towns and villages, such as Coles Bay, Swansea, Swanick and Bicheno offer friendly hospitality, a variety of lovely accommodation and easy accessibility to the area’s most sought after locations. Besides bushwalking through the beautiful natural surroundings of Freycinet National Park, other activities include swimming, snorkelling or scuba diving, kayaking, abseiling, camping and simply relaxing on the area’s stunning beaches.
